The southern campus in Erlangen is home to a number of institutes of the Faculty of Sciences and Faculty of Engineering, libraries, lecture halls, a large student restaurant and the Computer Centre (RRZE).

The Faculty of Engineering was founded in 1966, making FAU the first traditional university in Germany to offer degree programmes in engineering. Since then, the Faculty of Engineering has earned itself an outstanding reputation, both at home and abroad.
